The spring concert of the Oak Park Concert Chorale opens with the wonderful Cantate Domino by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Taking the advice of this composition, OPCC welcomes spring and its accompanying Easter festival and themes of love and holiness in music by Maurice Duruflé, Anton Bruckner, Thomas Weelkes and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartoldy. The concert will also feature selections from the Cantata Profana by contemporary Danish composer Vagn Holmboe.
The highlight will be the incredible Motet for the Time of Easter by Richard Hillert. This innovative piece for harp and choir uses modern harmonizations and aleatoric effects, yet is based on the ancient Gregorian chant Christ Lag in Todesbanden.
We invite you to be with us for a pleasing and enjoyable experience that will include a wide variety of choral gems that will linger in your memory for their gift of melody and rich harmony.
