The Oak Park Concert Chorale, led by director Paul Lindblad, will present its Spring concert series, “Innovations In Song” on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 7:00pm, at Unity Temple, 875 Lake Street, Oak Park, IL. This concert will also be perfomed on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 7:00pm, at Grace Lutheran Church, 7300 W. Division Street, River Forest, IL and will be accompanied by Chicago Reading Orchestra. General Admission for both concerts is $15; Seniors/Students $10. Children Kindergarten age and younger are free.

Come celebrate with us on the occasion of our Silver Jubilee. The pomp and circumstance found in the great George Fredric Handel masterpieces Coronation Anthem Number One: Zadok the Priest and the Utrecht Jubilate make a fitting tribute to this festive occasion. The innovative fresh harmonies of Benjamin Britten will be represented by his famous Rejoice in the Lamb , a sparkling gem in OPCC’s vast repertoire, which also includes compositions by Josquin des Pres, Charles Wesley, Johannes Brahms and William L. Dawson.

OPCC remains dedicated to performing exciting and innovative music. In loving memory of charter member Charles ‘Chic’ Wittenberg we have commissioned a set of four new Christmas Carols by some of the Chorale’s favorite composers, Richard Hillert, Carl Schalk, Kevin Allen and our own Paul Lindblad. Charles Wittenberg is the father of OPCC member Lynn Zamora. Lynn is also a member of the Iowa Army National Guard and returned home safely from Iraq in June 2004.

O Musica by Paul Peuerl has become a keynote theme of the Chorale. This and other works from our rich tradition will be featured when the Chorale is joined by a choir of alumni at the April 22, 2006 concert. This concert will also be followed with a reception.

The Oak Park Concert Chorale invites you to an enchanting evening of magnificent choral music as we celebrate this festive occasion.
