Composers Workshop: Writing for the Voice

Saturday, May 20, 2017
10:00am – noon

Oak Park Public Library Main Branch
Veteran’s Room (second floor)
834 Lake St.
Oak Park, IL

Learn how to write for the voice from OPCC Composer-in-ResidenceMichael Wolniakowski.  The workshop will include examining techniques of popular composers such as John Rutter, Eric Whitacre, and others.  Why is voice-leading important?  When can I break the traditional rules of part-writing?  How can I better prepare my score for choirs/conductors?

This workshop is geared toward young and emerging composers ages 10 to 25 years old (although anyone can come and take part in the workshop.)  In addition to practical composition techniques, Mr. Wolniakowski will discuss how to effectively promote yourself as a composer.

If you would like your composition to be featured in the workshop, please send us an email and we will try to include it:
